Welcome to DI6
The drug problem is a truly global problem and as I have been working on the international scene for many years I have received a large number of emails over the years from people who would like to learn more about the present international drug scene. People in Scandinavia as well as people abroad have asked me to continue to share updated news on drug related information, research, news, views and reviews, comments and trends in English, which I have already done for many years through lectures, articles, and as a guest on numerous talk shows on the radio and on television.
There are no more than 24 hours a day but with help from colleagues based worldwide I will provide extensive coverage, in English, on drug related issues. I´ll provide an exact date for the launch of this new initiative within a few days.
The legalisers are busy trying to undermine the UN Conventions ahead of UNGASS (United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Drugs - at present scheduled to take place in 2008) and they work hard to try to convince people that decriminalisation or legalisation of some or all drugs would be an option to what they prefer to call 'the war on drugs'.
Whatever you call it, 'the war on drugs' as well as the 'war on terrorism' will obviously continue for years to come whether we like it or not.
Defending restrictive drug policies in line with the UN Conventions on drugs is also defending democracy. It´s an ongoing process every day of the year. There is no time for complacency. There is no reason whatsoever to accept that a small number of people are doing their best to create mayhem, destabilise democracies and create misery for millions of people should their insidious agenda to legalise drugs become reality. It is also important to keep in mind that there are close links between the drug trade, terrorist activities, smuggling of weapons and human trafficking.
I have decided not to set up another blog to cover material in English as a large number of Scandinavian residents would like to have access to material in English in an easy way, hence the best of two worlds in one blog. Welcome back!
I hope you will benefit from the information I will be providing. Please return to this blog frequently to find out about any updates in English.
The abbreviation DI6 stands for Drug Information 2006
