"Gud" medverkade i Agenda ikväll
George Soros gjorde TV2:s Agenda den äran ikväll för att diskutera ekonomi och för den som inte visste det, vet Soros bäst om man får tro honom själv.
SVT berättar att Soros med sina spekulationer har knäckt ett antal valutor - när den svenska kronan rasade och Riksbanken tvingades höja räntan till 500 procent var det George Soros som låg bakom. Tilläggas kan att det också var Soros som knäckte det brittiska pundet "den svarta onsdagen" 16 september 1992 då Soros gjorde sig en rejäl hacka - över en miljard dollar.
I boken The Alchemy of Finance låter Soros oss veta att I have always harboured an exaggerated view of my self-importance. To put it bluntly, I fancied myself as some kind of god or an economic reformer like Keynes, or, even better, like Einstein. My sense of reality was strong enough to make me realise that these expectations were excessive, and I kept them hidden as a guilty secret. This was a source of considerable unhappiness through much of my adult life. As I made my way in the world, reality came close enough to my fantasy to allow me to admit my secret, at least to myself. Needless to say, I feel much happier as a result.

Många kanske inte känner till att Geoge Soros också är en ivrig anhängare av legalisering av narkotika. I boken Soros on Soros säger Soros att I´ll tell you what I would do if it were up to me. I would establish a strictly controlled distribution network through which I would make most drugs, excluding the most dangerous ones lika crack, legally available. Initially, I would keep prices low enough to destroy the drug trade. Once that objective was attained I would keep raising the prices, very much like the excise duty on cigarettes, but I would make an exception for registered addicts in order to discourage crime. I would use a portion of the income for prevention and treatment. And I would foster social opprobrium of drug use.
Om han tror att det är lösningen på narkotikaproblemet är det kanske dags att granska hans förslag på lösningar av andra problem också.
Är ekonomi vetenskap? Nobelstiftelsen hänger fortfarande fast vid att så är fallet då man årligen delar ut nobelpriset i ekonomi. Laurence J. Peter uttryckte ekonomernas ringa betydelse för att lösa finansiella problem kort och koncist, An economist is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happen today eller som John Kenneth Galbraith uttryckte det, Economics is extremely useful as a form of employment for economists.
